420 Membership (Ages 12-13)

* Because you have always wanted to do it and we have a position for you!

The Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department has been protecting the residents of the City of Greensburg for over 125 years.  Whether it’s a fire, vehicle accident, flood, or natural disaster the GVFD family has responded and has always been there to help.  Your friends, neighbors, and family members have been answering “THE CALL” for generations.  We need you to continue our proud tradition of public service.  No matter your occupation, gender, race, or age, we have a need for people who are willing to become active members of our community!  No experience is necessary, we will provide you with all of the training that you need.  You may also be interested in one of our many specialized rescue teams: Bloodhound Tracking Team, Dive Team, Swift Water Rescue Team, and Trench Rescue Team, just to name a few.  A few of the benefits of joining the GVFD are: free access to the Aerobic Center, yearly health screenings, a life insurance benefit and 2 years of free tuition to WCCC.  With 6 stations in the city, we have a location near you!

420 Membership (Ages 12-13)

420 Members (ages 12 & 13) – can do drills, walk-thoughs, help in functions, etc. They are not covered under Workman’s Compensation, they are on the Department roster under a special 4 digit number, but are NOT members of the Relief Association. 420’s are covered by the Provident Insurance Policy providing supplemental insurance to anyone who helps in fund raisers or company/department events. 420 members are only permitted to ride on GVFD Vehicles when proceeding NON-EMERGENCY. Note: There are a lot of restrictions for 420’s. They are basically observers. 420’s may participate in training, but on a very limited basis, i.e. no ladders, no power tools or saws – Nothing that would put them into harm’s way. 420’s will be provided an I.D. Card and wear a blue lanyard while in station or on the training ground.  420 Members will be issued and wear a blue helmet.
